Mac Mini 2014 Review

Published in Reviews on Feb 24, 2018

The Mac Mini is a cheap option to buying into the Apple ecosystem. You can pick one of the 2014 models on eBay for roughly £350. Now that I've got my hands on one, let's get on with the review.

Pros and Cons

  • Relatively small
  • Inbuilt speakers
  • Cheap way to get a Mac
  • Two Thunderbolt ports

  • You can't replace the RAM or hard drive. The bottom is sealed.
  • Can't run 4K

At the back of the Mac, there are a variety of different ports.

You have a power port, ethernet port, an HDMI, two Thunderbolt ports, 4 USB 3.0 sockets, an SC card slot and Headphone jacks.

The bottom model is available from Apple at £479. It packs a 1.4GHz i5 processor, 500GB hard drive and 4GB of memory.

The middle model (the one I opted for) features an Intel i5 Processor, 1TB hard drive and 8GB of memory. From Apple, it costs £679.

Finally, the top model has an Intel i5 or i7 processor, 1TB fusion drive and 8/16 GB of RAM. It costs £949.
